Spiritual Growth Opportunities

By September 5, 2019No Comments

Growing disciples is important to us at Southside. We want to do more than make converts, we want to join God in making passionate followers of Jesus. So I want to tell you about three offerings that are coming up and invite you to participate:

Finding Your Place

This Sunday (September 8) begins a special 2-week class for new partners, returning guests, and partners that want to better connect. It will be a time for us to get to know you better and for you to get to know the DNA and vision of our church. Finding Your Place will meet in Room 106 (The Fireplace Room), near the back parking lot entrance.

Spiritual Disciplines Retreat

The next Spiritual Disciplines Retreat will be on Saturday, September 28th. The cost is $20 per person. It is a day-long retreat focused on developing and practicing healthy spiritual disciplines. If you are interested in going or would like more information, email

Soul Care Group | Fear of God/Fear of Man

To offer relevant Discipleship classes and groups for our church, we are launching Soul Care. Soul Care is a network of ministries and resources to help us overcome sin and pain, and be conformed into the likeness of Christ for the mission of Christ. It will consist of special classes and focused discipleship groups. The first group will start on Monday evenings in October:

The Bible calls it “Fear of Man” (Pro. 29:25), but we call it codependency, peer pressure, or people-pleasing. It comes in all shapes and forms: over-committing, obsession with our reputation, attention-seeking, etc. and is one of the most common sin struggles. In this group, we will address this persistent struggle and help you replace it with life-giving “Fear of God.”

Dates: Mondays, October 7 – November 25th
Time: 6:30 – 7:45
Place: Room 113 at Southside Church of Christ
