Youth Group

The Southside Youth Group seeks to be a youth ministry of mission, mercy, and transformation.  We strive for the teens at Southside to connect with God, connect with the church, and reach out to friends and neighbors.

The leaders of SYG recognize that we are all on a journey with God and we strive to walk beside the teens at Southside and experience the journey together.

We seek to create environments and experiences in which the students and leaders can come into the presence of God and be transformed.  We see this accomplished in five ways…

Worship:  SYG spends time in prayer, contemplation, praise, and other acts of worship to connect with God and express our love and devotion to Him.

Fellowship:  We believe it is important for strong relationships to be formed within the church.  We plan events that promote community and relationship builiding such as lock-ins, devotionals, “After Dark”, and other fun activities.

Exploration:  We believe that the Word of God is transformational and we use it to explore who God is and what He desires for our lives.

Sharing:  Jesus commanded his disciples to go into all the world and share the good news.  We believe that is our mission today and we seek to share the good news with our friends and neighbors through our words and our actions.

Serving:  Jesus said that he came to serve.  As the hands and feet of Jesus, we seek to provide opportunities for our teens to reach into the community and be the presence of Jesus, providing love and mercy to those in need.

SYG is a place for all teens to belong and a place for everyone to connect with God and to join in His mission.  We invite you to join with us on this journey and may we walk together with God.
